PARKING AND ENTRANCE
The Bataan building is four stories, with the Historic Preservation Division located on the 2nd floor, Suite 236. Two elevators? services on all floors. Monday through Friday, the lower-level entrance doors unlock at 8am and there is a ramp from the parking lot to the power-operated door, located on the east side of the big tower. Other routes:
A second power-operated door is located on the south side of the building, near the small courtyard north of South Capitol Place.
A second elevator is located near the power-operated door above, inside to the right past the stairs. When exiting the elevator on the 2nd floor, there is a steepish ramp to the left.
A third elevator is located on the west side of the building. Note that this elevator is accessed on the first floor by going through a heavy, non-powered door. All doors lock at 5:00pm.
There are four options for on-site accessible parking at the Bataan Building. The main accessible parking location is north of the building, accessed by the vehicle entrance on West DeVargas St, located between Galisteo Street and Don Gaspar Avenue. There are 6 ADA parking spaces including two van accessible spaces. The nearby entrance includes a ramp from the parking lot and a power-operated door into the building.
Other accessible parking:
There are 3 ADA parking spaces on the east end of South Capitol Place. There are 3 ADA parking spaces on the west end of South Capitol Place. There are 3 ADA parking spaces including one van accessible space in the small courtyard just north of South Capitol Place.
SERVICE ANIMALS
Dogs and other animals which qualify as Service Animals under the Americans with Disabilities Act are welcome at the New Mexico State Library and are exempt from fees. Under the New Mexico Service Animal Act of 2013, Emotional Support Animals and pets are not considered service animals. RESTROOMS
Accessible public restrooms are available on the first and second floors of the Bataan Memorial Building. Public restroom entrances do not have automatic doors.
