Eligibility

The minimum requirements for Certified Local Government status are:

1. A current local historic district or landmarks ordinance meeting minimum federal and State requirements.
2. A Historic Preservation, Design Review Commission whose members are either experienced in the preservation field or have a demonstrated interest in historic preservation. The commission must meet established minimum criteria.
3. Qualified staff or consultants to provide support and technical assistance to the Historic Preservation Commission.
4. A local preservation plan, if extant, or a concise statement describing the status of the applicant's survey, nomination, and design review process.
